At the international festival of animation films which took place in Hiroshima (Japan) on August 21-25, 2014 special attention of the international jury was attracted by the Kazakhstani picture taken by the motives of the short story by Mukhtar Auezov “Kokserek”.

The cartoon was made in the 2D format and during the preparation of the animation there were drawn more than 3 thousand drawings. The events in the animation film take place at the beginning of the 20-th century. A boy left an orphan at an early age is adopted by his uncle and in spite of the others’ objection brings a wolf-cub to this house. But the constant resistance of the surrounding people leads finally to the release of Lyutyi and the boy himself leaves the uncle’s house. After some time the boy returns back to his uncle, feeling sorry for him. The former wolf-cub Lyutyi grows up and becomes the leader of the wolf pack.
The international festival of animation films in Hiroshima was founded in 1985 by the International association of animated cinema (ASIFA) as a review of cartoons dedicated to the peace in the whole world. By the idea of the founders, Hiroshima which underwent an atomic bombing is the very place where art is to inspire mankind with thoughts on unity. This is one of the most important animation forums together with the festivals in Annecy (France), Ottawa (Canada) and in Zagreb (Croatia). The festival takes place every wto years in the multiplex beside the Memorial park of peace in the centre of the city and it lasts five days.
